Veteran Services

The process of finding, applying for, receiving and maintaining Veterans benefits can be confusing and frustrating.  The Roscommon County Veteran Services goal is to provide outstanding service to the Veterans and their families who reside in Roscommon County by maximizing the receipt of the Veterans benefits and eliminating or reducing the frustration and confusion that go along with the process.  The mission of our professional staff is to provide accurate, efficient and timely services to ensure delivery of benefits.  

Veteran Services helps veterans get the benefits they deserve including but not limited to:

  • Burial Allowance
  • Dependency (adding a eligible family member)
  • Compensation for service-related death
  • Grave markers
  • Death pensions
  • Medal requests
  • Burial in national cemetery
  • Education for spouse and children
  • Emergency Financial Assistance (State – Michigan Trust Fund; County – Relief Fund)

Roscommon County Transportation Assistance to Veterans

Roscommon County Veterans Services provide transportation assistance to Roscommon County Veterans to their VA appointments only when certain conditions exist.  Volunteer Drivers transport Veterans based on the Transportation Schedule below.  Veterans receiving reimbursement from VA for mileage must turn this mileage over Roscommon County Veterans Services.  Please apply in the Roscommon County Veterans Service Office.
