The Roscommon County Board of Commissioner’s met on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 for a regular meeting.  Chairman Mead called the meeting to order at 10:00 A.M.

 

Roll Call:  Nellist, Mead, Schneider, Milburn, Souder. 

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

            1.         Moved by Milburn, seconded by Schneider to approve the agenda

                        as presented with added motion.  On roll call:  Ayes:  Nellist, Mead,

                        Souder, Milburn, Schneider.  Nays;  None.  Motion carried.

 

            2.         Moved by Nellist, seconded by Souder to approve Board of

                        Commissioner’s meeting minutes of March 3, 12, and 26, 2008.

                        On roll call:  Ayes:  Milburn, Schneider, Mead, Souder, Nellist.

                        Nays:  None.  Motion carried.

            3.         Moved by Milburn, seconded by Souder to approve Class A

                        Bills.  On roll call:  Ayes:  Nellist, Mead, Schneider, Milburn,

                        Souder.  Nays:  None.  Motion carried.

 

            4.         Moved by Schneider, seconded by Souder to approve Claims and

                        Accounts.  On roll call:  Ayes:  Mead, Schneider, Milburn, Souder,

                        Nellist.  Nays:  None.  Motion carried.

                        Committee.  On roll call:  Ayes:  Souder, Milburn, Schneider, Mead,

            6.         Moved by Souder, seconded by Schneider to appoint Tom Gromek,                            Roscommon Village Manager and Eric Jaroch, Roscommon County

                        Blodgett Memorial Airport Manager to the Roscommon County

                        Economic Development Corporation as ex-officio members.  On

                        roll call:  Ayes:  Nellist, Mead, Milburn, Schneider, Souder.  Nays:

                        None.  Motion carried.

 

            7.         Moved by Milburn, seconded by Schneider to appropriate $100.00

                        for membership fees to the Muskegon River Watershed Assembly.

                        On roll call:  Ayes:  Souder, Nellist, Mead, Schneider, Milburn.  Nays:                          None.  Motion carried.

 

            8.         Moved by Milburn, seconded by Nellist to approve Resolution for

                        National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, April 13-19, 2008

                        to honor Roscommon County public safety dispatchers as presented

                        and authorize Chairman, Larry D. Mead to sign.

 

National Public Safety Telecommunications Week

April 13-19, 2008

 

                        Whereas emergencies can occur at anytime that require police, fire

                        or emergency medical services;

 

                        And Whereas when an emergency occurs, the prompt response of

                        police officers, firefighters and EMS personnel is critical to the

                        protection of life and preservation of property;

 

                        And Whereas the safety of our police officers, EMS and firefighters is

                        dependent upon the quality and accuracy of information obtained from

                        citizens who telephone Roscommon County Central Dispatch;

 

                        And Whereas Public Safety Dispatchers are the first and most critical

                        contact our citizens have with emergency services;

 

                        And Whereas Public Safety Dispatchers are the single vital link for our

                        police officers, EMS and firefighters by monitoring their activities by

                        radio, providing them information and insuring their safety;

 

                        And Whereas Public Safety Dispatchers of the Roscommon County

                        have contributed substantially to the apprehension of criminals,

                        suppression of fires and treatment of patients;

 

                        And Whereas, each dispatcher has exhibited compassion, understanding

                        and professionalism during the performance of their job in the past year.

 

                        Therefore Be It Resolved, that the Board of Commissioners of

                        April 13th through 19th, 2008 to be National Public Safety

                        Telecommunications Week in Roscommon County, in honor of

                        the men and women whose diligence and professionalism keep our

                        County and citizens safe.
